CLEOBURY Mort-imer resident Roger Skelhorn is urging individuals in the community to club together and "invest" in the parish's newly refurbished Market Hall.
Mr Skelhorn, a former parish councillor, tols a meeting of the council that he was prepared to stake £500 in the venture and he knew of others prepared to do the same.
The contributions would be on the basis that they would be paid back from money generated by tenancies.
Mr Skelhorn proposed the idea as a way of solving the the council's difficulties in finding a way to pay off outstanding debts standing at more than £60,000.
He argued there was a precedent in the history where residents had banded together to pay for the installation of the first floor on the old Market Hall.
