Thompson turned the game for Tenbury when he came on to bag the last four wickets cheaply as Himbleton threatened to set a big total in this Worcestershire League Division Four clash.
Himbleton scored 253 and Tenbury totalled 254 for 7.
Electing to bat Himbleton, aided by a lightening fast outfield, raced to 84 before seamer Derek James broke through.
Although skipper Joe Reynolds rang the bowling changes he could not stop the runs from the aggressive middle order batsmen and Himbleton threatened to post a total in excess of 300 runs.
Opener Peter Rogers hit a quick-fire 61 and skipper Dean Oliver and Matt McCann continued the charge with 60 and 56.
Left-arm spinner Aaron Morris had taken a couple of wickets but was blasted for 28 off his final over as Himbleton cut loose.
The introduction of Thompson swung the game. The quick but sometimes erratic Thompson, who has had little bowling this season, clean bowled McCann with his first ball and, with the help of a sharp catch from Andy Adams snapped up another wicket with his second ball.
This stopped Himbleton in their tracks and with help from James, who finished with 3-49, he grabbed another two wickets to finish with a splendid 4-14 as the
home side slumped to 253 all out.
Tenbury openers Thompson (18) and Ian Taylor (35) made a positive start and when Thompson departed Chris Giles came in to secure one end. With help from wicket-keeper Dave Hunt (30), John Pearson (31) and Aaron Morris (16) Giles guided Tenbury towards their target.
Although he went for an invaluable 65 Adams (19) and James (8) steered Tenbury to victory.
