POLICE are looking for a cool gang who carried out two carbon copy thefts worth a total of £1.1 million in Ludlow and Leominster at the weekend.
The thieves took away a £100,000 blue ERF articulated lorry containing around £500,000 of copper wire from the Smithfield car park in Ludlow, between 11am on Saturday and 4.45am on Monday.
Meanwhile a blue Volvo lorry, also worth £100,000, containing £400,000 of raw copper, vanished from the Broad Street lorry park in Leominster, between 6pm on Saturday and 10.15 on Sunday morning.
The company has offered a £10,000 reward for the recovery of the copper and, or, the conviction of those who stole it or received it.
Both lorries belong to Owens Road Services from Llanelli. The vehicle stolen in Ludlow was loaded with 26 tonnes of copper wire in Wales and was due to be delivered to a customer on Monday. The other lorry came from Lanca-shire with between 24 and 25 tonnes of raw copper to be processed in Llanelli.
The two lorries were found within two miles of each other in Wolverhampton. Forensic teams immediately began looking for clues
Shropshire and Herefordshire divisions of West Mercia Police are working together on the investigation.
