BARRINGTON'S Titan claimed a double victory at the Royal Show at Stoneleigh for his owner, Jarmila Robinson of Rochford Park, Tenbury Wells.

After scooping the junior breed championship, the Barringtons went on to secure the best exhibitor-bred Charolais award with 16-month-old Titan by Cliftonpark Newstar. The bull was bred by Mrs Robinson's husband, Barrington, a former president of the Charolais Society, and out of one of the home-bred cows.

Titan is no stranger to the ring this season, having already collected a string of tickets, including the reserve male breed title at the Three Counties and the reserve interbreed championship at the Shropshire and West Midlands.

The Royal proved to be a real family affair for the Robinsons - Barrington, Jarmila and their son, Maxwell.

Entries from each of their three separate herds headed up the three junior bull classes. Eventually, in the final junior male line up, Maxwell's Shamleys Timon stood in reserve place to Titan, with Barrington's Cliftonpark Tenbury in third place. A heifer won a first and was reserve champion.

To round off the event, the Robinson's herd manager, Paul Burgess, won the best stockman's prize.

Five from the Barringtons 60 cattle - divided into three different herds - will be competing at the Royal Welsh Show later this month.

Andrew Bishop of Colwall had probably his best-ever win at the Royal, scooping the commercial cattle championship with his Blonde-cross Belgian Blue, named Black Magic.

And Mrs Sybil Gleed of Monmouth, who has previously won major trophies at the Royal with her Red Polls cattle, took a top breed award with one her cows.
