CASTLE produced a superb bowling and fielding performance to claim a welcome second victory of the current Banks's League Division Two campaign over second placed Lilleshall.
The visitors won the toss and invited Castle to bat. Bishop's Castle scored 102 and Lilleshall 59.
This seemed to be the correct decision with opener and top scorer Richard Fifield departing for one run with the total at three, and Steve Morris immediately following for a golden duck.
Andrew Lewis provided some respite for Castle as they edged to 26 before he went for a dogged nine runs.
This signalled the start of a collapse as Lilleshall skipper Steve Bate routed the middle order.
Castle slumped to 52-7, until Rhys Davies joined Simon Palmer in a productive eighth wicket stand.
They quietly took the score towards some respectability until Palmer perished for a fine 40, closely followed by Davies for a gritty 19.
Bate mopped up the tail to finish with an excellent 9-35 as Castle mustered a modest 102.
Faced with a meagre total Castle's opening bowlers Palmer and Morris, backed up by sharp fielding, immediately made inroads into the visitors batting.
They kept a tight line and length and wickets fell at regular intervals.
By the time both bowlers had completed their maximum 20 allotted overs, Lilleshall were on the verge of defeat at 57-9, with Palmer completing a superb all-round performance with 7-25, ably backed up by Morris with 2-24.
First change bowler Lewis took only three balls to polish off the Lilleshall innings and secure the winning points for Castle.
