Matthew Green is the local choice. The Liberal Democrats are a close second to the Conservatives and Matthew is the only candidate who can beat the Conservatives here. Born and bred in Shropshire, he has lived in Ratlinghope and Bishop's Castle and now lives in Much Wenlock with his wife Sarah.
He has earned a reputation for battling hard for the local area, most notably his involvement in the campaign to save Kidderminster Hospital from closure. "I am fighting to restore accident and emergency services at Kidderminster. I think we will win this battle eventually," he said.
Matthew says his main aim is to put the interests of Shrop-shire first: "I want a fairer funding settlement so local councils can either invest in better services or lower council tax.
"I want to ensure farming remains viable in Shropshire. It's the bedrock of our local economy. Long-term problems caused by foot and mouth must not be forgotten once the run of new cases finally stops."
"We need better hospitals and schools, a decent state pension and more police. Liberal Democrats want to see properly funded public services and we are prepared to say where the money is coming from."
