Ellesmere Rangers Reserves 5 Ludlow Town 2
LUDLOW Town’s six-match winning run in the Sportsjamkits.com Shropshire League Premier Division came to an abrupt end at Ellesmere.
There was no indication of what was to follow during the first quarter. Town opened the scoring on 10 minutes when Aaron Hodge fired the ball home after running on to an astute pass from his brother Dale.
Ellesmere won a free-kick midway through the half and, when it was deflected past Nick Giles in the Town goal, it changed the whole complexion of the game.
Giles hesitated and then slipped allowing Rangers to take the lead before the break.
The home side stretched their lead in the second half to 4-1 with two well-taken goals.
Ludlow looked to repair the damage and Dale Hodge latched on to an Andy Walker corner to score with his head, giving them some hope.
They pushed forward, but were eventually caught on the break as Ellesmere finished the game with a late goal.
Manager Mike Seaborne is looking for his side to roll up their sleeves and show a lot more fire when they take on Telford Juniors at the SBS Stadium this weekend.
