LUDLOW RFC reached the quarter-final stage of the Midlands Intermediate Cup when Berkswell and Balsall called their third round clash off on Friday evening, claiming that they were unable to field a front row.
Ludlow seconds had an impressive 12-7 win when they met a strong Telford second string at The Linney.
Telford took the lead in the first half when their fly half scored and converted a try.
Ludlow hit back but had to wait until the second half to turn the game around.
Fly-half Matt Davies scored and converted a try to level the score and then Conrad Snooke sealed the win. Tom Wilcox, Mick Morris and James Tyrell played well.
■ LUDLOW RFC face a stiff challenge this weekend when they travel to Birmingham to take on Aston Old Edwardians in what may well turn out to be one of the key fixtures in this season’s Midlands 2 West (North) title race.
Both sides are level on points with Old Saltleians at the head of the division, and the six matches between the three sides will be crucial in deciding the crown.
Tenbury are in a similar position in Division 5.
They face Birmingham Civil Ser vice at Palmer’s Meadow, with both sides going into the game boasting records of five matches, five wins. Something will have to give.
