LUDLOW Town might be top of the tree - but manager Mike Seaborne insists there’s plenty of room for improvement.
Seaborne is disappointed that Town hold only a one-point advantage at the summit of the Sportsjamkits.com Shropshire County Premier League.
His new year’s wish is to have a more settled side as Town push for the league title in their maiden season in the division.
“We are top of the league at the moment and I am not 100 per cent happy,” said Seaborne, who has also managed Leintwardine Colts.
“We have done well but, with the players we have got at the club, I feel that we have under achieved so far.
“The achilles heel is that we’ve not been getting a settled side each week.
“Some weeks we’ve had two or three players missing and other weeks it’s been three or four.”
Former Woofferton and Leominster Town player Jamie Marsh is captaining the Shropshire outfit after returning to the club.
And Seaborne also praised Craven Arms-based Alan Williams, who has been a key player in Town’s climb to the top.
“Alan joined us in the summer and he’s played football at a higher level, including Cirencester.
“He’s very versatile - he can play at right-back, right-midfield, central- midfield and he’s even slotted By Ian Morgan in at centre-half.
“Alan’s been a key player for us this season and he has been good for me to have at the club.”
Seaborne is pleased to have ended 2010 with Ludlow leading the promotion race.
“If we had had a settled side throughout the season, I think we would be looking very strong for promotion,” said Seaborne.
“It’s nice being top of the tree at the Christmas break but I feel that we should be in a stronger position.”
Town host eighth-placed Broseley Juniors on Saturday.
