LUDLOW Town Colts looked to be heading for defeat when they trailed 2-0 to Weston Rhyn on the all-weather surface at the SBS Stadium with just 30 minutes to play.

But they struck back in style to gain a 3-2 Shropshire Alliance win and give themselves a giant boost going into their quarter-final tie at Randlay TC in the Shropshire Junior Cup this weekend.

The Colts created several chances during the first hour but failed to tuck them away.

And when Ryan Leightwood and Michael Jones scored for Rhyn either side of the break, defeat was looming at the hour-mark.

Craig Simkiss glanced a header which went in off the keeper’s foot and then a deflected own goal saw the sides locked at 2-2.

Alley Car vell put the Colts in front, but it needed a point-blank save from Richard Mapp in the home goal to protect the lead.

❑ Ludlow Town were hoping to return to action after their long break for the weather and the holiday period with a visit from Broseley in the Sportsjamkits.com Shropshire Premier League.

But the temporary return of the wintry weather last Friday means that they will have to wait for another week before resuming their title bid.
