Ludlow Town 2 FC Hodnett 4
LUDLOW failed to come to terms with the well-executed game-plan of their opponents, and consequently slipped to third-place in the Sportsjamkits.com Shropshire Premier League after suffering a disappointing defeat at the SBS Stadium.
The win takes FC Hodnet into pole position, two points clear of third-placed Ludlow, but they have played three games more. Haughmond are second, one point clear of Town on level games.
Playing a cautious game, Hodnett set out to frustrate the free-scoring Town attack. The ploy worked, with Town restricted and eventually frustrated, ending up with nine men.
All looked well when Danny Crowther converted a Nathan Hodge, (pictured left), cross to break the deadlock. The visitors were back on level terms before the break, and then went ahead early in the second half.
Town’s problems mounted up when Luke Hicks was sent off within minutes of entering the fray. Dale Hodge tied the score with a header, but Hodnett restored their lead with a picture goal.
A melee ten minutes from time ended with Dale Hodge being sent off, and then their fate was sealed when Hodnett scored again right at the death.
Town go to Newport Town this weekend.
