FC Hodnet 5 LudlowTown 2
LUDLOW Town boss Mike Seaborne said his side should have learned from the mistakes of last season’s trip to FC Hodnet.
Town went down 5-2 to the early season pacesetters last weekend having lost to the same side early in last season’s Shropshire County Premier League campaign.
Seaborne said his side were without five first-teamers for the game but felt the side he put out should still have had enough.
“We went there last year and we didn’t learn any lessons from it,”
he said.
“We had a few missing but the team I put out should have been good enough.”
Ludlow found themselves 2-0 down in the f irst half before Danny Gower gave them hope with a strike just before the break.
But Town still went in two behind as Hodnet struck with virtually the last kick of the half.
Dave Humphries reduced the deficit early in the second period but as the visitors were pushing forward in search of an equaliser they conceded two more late on.
The result was a blow, particularly after Town registered their first win of the season just three days before.
They beat A49 rivals Church Stretton 2-0 in a keenly fought game.
“We had to hang in there,” said Seaborne.
“It was 0-0 at half time but Sean Evans got two.
“They kept coming at us and it was a hard game.”
On Saturday, Ludlow entertain Shifnal United 97 with Andy Walker and Jake Pryce set to return to the squad although Jamie Hammonds and Adrian Marsh are among those doubtful with injuries.
