I REFER to Norman Wanstall’s letter in the Tenbury Advertiser dated September 1 voicing his concerns with regard to traffic congestion if planning permission is granted for a supermarket on the old auction yard site.
May I clarify the current situation.
A supermarket has submitted a planning application to Malvern Hills District Council’s planning department for a second time.
There is now a period of consultation where the planning department consults all relevant bodies for their views.
Unfortunately the northern area planning committee has little input on the matter of traffic and is obliged to take into account the views of Worcester County Council’s highways authority when the committee considers the application.

Malvern Hills District member for Tenbury
