FIREWORKS are certain when the Tesco planning application is considered at a special meeting in the town.
The controversial issue is expected to be determined at a meeting at Tenbury High School on Wednesday, November 2, just three days before bonfire night.
A formal consultation about the scheme has finished but a plea has been made for people in the town to make their views known before the deadline at the end of October.
The planning meeting will be a rerun of one staged in January, when members of the area Malvern Hills development committee refused an application from the supermarket chain.
Hopes by objectors to the proposal that Tesco would drop its interest in the former Cattle Market site were dashed when a revised application was submitted.
The supermarket decided to pin its hopes on a revised proposal, rather than lodge an appeal against the previous planning appeal.
“We recognise that this is a major application for Tenbury Wells and with many plans and documents to read through we feel it is important to let residents know that they do still have time to comment,” said leader of Malvern Hills District Council Councillor Phil Grove, who represents Tenbury on the authority.
“This will mean that when the district council does look to make a decision on the application, it can take into account all of the representations made.
“To ensure that representations can be taken into account by our officers when they draft their recommendation, they should be submitted to the planning department by Friday, October 21.”
