FROM a distance, it's difficult to see why Tenbury Wells needs a Tesco. The town and area has got bigger but to save time and energy, it's more relevant to have a railway station, eg reinstatement of the old Wooferton site as Tenbury Parkway with a dedicated bus link to the Tenbury area.
Perhaps Tesco's planning permission could incorporate them building such a station as Network (British) Rail is so slow and intransigent, they seem hardly to move even to the point of going backwards!
Apart from that aspect, there are Tesco stores: one at Ludlow, two at Worcester and two at Hereford. Even from here we used to go, and some still do, some 30 miles to Hereford's Tesco (there is now a Llandrindod Tesco).
Typical of overkill and too many Tesco stores, four others, 15, a recent Tesco at Newtown which is not popular, or a proposed Morrisons at Abegavenny, also much discussed as to its necessity.
Presumably Tenbury has bus links (or train from Leominster and Ludlow) from Tenbury to those places with Tesco so it's hard to see the point in making traffic worse in an already cramped, one and only main street.
