Ludlow Town 4 Newport Town 0
LUDLOW Town boss Mike Seaborne said it’s vital his side keep their winning run going after another impressive victory.
Town saw off top-of-the-table Newport Town at the weekend, just seven days after thrashing Broseley Juniors by the same scoreline.
“The last three weeks we have been playing well,” said Seaborne.
“We are defending a lot better and look more solid. At Telford Juniors we were unlucky to lose 3-2 and at Broseley we put in a good display.
“We’ve just got to keep plodding on and trying to get those three points.”
He admits Newport were the better side in the first half of Saturday’s Shropshire County League Premier Division clash.
Seaborne said he was forced to have words with his men at the half-time interval.
“It was 0-0 at the interval and Newport probably edged it,” he said.
“I just told the players to be more productive going forward.”
His words had the desired effect as Aaron Hodge and former Manchester United youngster Sean Evans scored early in the half to give Ludlow the cushion they were after.
Town then began to look comfortable and Andy Walker beat the offside trap to increase the lead while Danny Gower sealed victory late on.
The victory sees them rise to fifth in the table.
This Saturday Town entertain Whitchurch Alport Reserves, who have yet to record a victory but held Seaborne’s men to a draw on the opening day of the campaign.
“We are hoping to put that right at the weekend,” said Ludlow’s boss.
“Nathan Hodge, who has missed the last three games, could be back soon which is good for us.”
