HREE hairdressers from a salon in Bishop’s Castle have been scouted to style hair on a new reality TV show starting on Sky Living next month.
Emma Morris, owner of Bubbles and Co in the town’s High Street, her senior stylist Claire Morris and apprentice Katie Burton styled the hair of two brides and a bridal party of reality TV stars, who attended a wedding at Walcot Hall in Lydbury North for the new Sky Living programme Double Wedding.
The programme, which will air from November, watches two completely different brides go head-to-head, in a bid to make their dream wedding come true.
Together they are given a budget to share and must agree on every minute detail of how to spend it.
From the food to the flowers, the cake to the bridesmaids, dressing the venue to the all-important dress, each bride must approve every decision, or risk a disastrous big day.
The ‘bridezillas' featured in the Shropshire episode have strong yet opposing visions about their perfect day – and as the girls struggle with the art of compromise viewers will have a ringside seat to the tiara-topped tantrums that threaten to crush their dream day.
Emma and her team were recommended by Walcot Hall and styled hair for both brides, mother of the brides, the grooms and the bridesmaids.
“It was a very busy morning,” said Emma. “Fortunately, we have recently taken on Katie as an apprentice, so the extra pair of hands made all the difference.”
The 22-year-old apprentice believes the experience will be great for the future.
“I started my apprenticeship with County Training in August and have already learned lots of new skills,” said Katie.
“Working for a reality television show has been a great opportunity and will look brilliant on my CV.
“When I signed up to do an apprenticeship I never imagined I would be getting this kind of practical experience – it’s been great.”
The production team from Sky Living was so impressed with the work done by the team at Bubbles and Co they have asked if they would be willing to travel to do the hair for other episodes later in the series.
To watch Double Wedding and see Bubbles and Co’s hair creations at Walcot Hall, tune in to Sky Living during November.
Double Wedding will give 16 brides the opportunity to have the wedding of their dreams. The only hitch is, they have to share their special day with a complete stranger. Each week viewers will see two completely different brides go head-to-head, in a bid to make their dream day come true.
Mark Sammon, head of factual entertainment at Sky Entertainment, said: “The series focuses on the rollercoaster emotions experienced by the two very different brides as together they decide on the dress, the flowers, the reception.
“But if they can’t come to a compromise, there won’t be a wedding. So sit back and prepare to watch the sparks fly.”
