PLANNING chiefs are calling for more information about the application from Tesco to build a supermarket on the former cattle market site in the town.
This means that the key planning meeting scheduled for early November has been put back a month.
Planners will now consider the scheme at a special meeting to be held at Tenbury High School on Wednesday, December 7. Amended details are expected to be submitted and once received, people who have expressed an interest in the application will be given the opportunity to comment on the revised details.
“Some extra work needs to be done on the application before it can be considered by committee,” said Councillor Phil Grove, who leads Malvern Hills District Council as well as representing Tenbury.
“If the application is ready for the December date, the meeting will be, as previously promised, held in Tenbury. I am conscious of just how important this issue is for the town and that opinion is divided.”
Tenbury Town Council decided to back the supermarket scheme at a special meeting, reversing a decision made two weeks earlier that went against Tesco.
Last week’s Advertiser incorrectly stated that the meeting originally planned for early November would take place at Tenbury Primary School. The location for the meeting, which will now take place on December 7, should have read Tenbury High School.
