A SESSION of bingo marked the start of the poppy appeal in Clee Hill.
The bingo evening has become the traditional way of starting the poppy appeal in the village and all the numbers came up with more than £715 raised.
This smashed last year’s total for the event and the branch are delighted that their Poppy Appeal has received such a boost early on.
“We were amazed at the turn-out; we couldn’t have fit any more people in,” said branch secretary Pay Vass.
“At a time where people have to watch the pennies, their generosity is very much appreciated. We would like to thank all who attended, donated a prize, or helped in any way.”
The branch is holding its Annual Service of Remembrance at St Peter’s Church, Clee Hill on Sunday, November 13 at 6:30pm. This moving service involves the Cleobury Mortimer Concert Brass Band as well as children from Clee Hill School.
