LUDLOW Town’s home match against Morda United was postponed last Saturday after their opponents refused to play on the synthetic surface.
Shropshire County League secretary Phil Davies confirmed that an investigation will now take place.
Town have played other Premier Division matches this season on their 3G pitch at the SBS Stadium.
Town’s grass pitch was available on Saturday but, the following day, it was to be used by Hereford United and a ladies’ match.
Ludlow boss Mike Seaborne said: “We have played three league matches on there already. Oswestry Lions from Division One play all their matches on their 3G surface.
“We heard on Friday tea-time that there might be a problem and the game was called off at 7.30pm on Friday night.”
Seaborne added: “It’s obviously a grey area in the league and we are all waiting to hear what will happen.”
League secretary Davies said the matter needed to be dealt with at committee level.
“There will be no pre-judgement,”
he said. “I have heard both versions verbally—but we will be waiting for written reports from the two clubs.”
Town return to Premier Division action at Wellington Amateur Reserves this Saturday.
Seaborne said: “We’ve got a tough month coming up with three away matches against Wellington, Ellesmere and Newport.
“It’s going to be a big month.
We’ve managed to keep fairly active with the friendly against Bartestree and a training match last Thursday.”
Seaborne expects a stern test from Wellington.
“They beat us 3-2 on the synthetic pitch earlier in the season,”
he said.
“We were poor on the day and had a man sent-off but Wellington deserved their win.
“They had a couple of lads who Sean Evans knew through Telford, so they had a strong side.
“I don’t know whether those lads are still there.”
