WHATEVER one may feel about the Tesco decision, which I assume is irreversible, it is now time to move on. For me the question becomes: how can we best turn the presence of Tesco to our advantage?
The novelty of a new Tesco store (with inbuilt free parking?) will hopefully attract people from far afield who may be visiting our small and historic town for the first time. Here then is a golden opportunity to encourage these shoppers to explore further by, for example, setting up permanent displays around the main access points, handing out leaflets etc. I am sure that others can dream up ideas along these lines.
Will the town council take the lead?
