Weston Rhyn 0 Ludlow Town 1.
LUDLOW Town chalked up another away day success after a solid performance at Weston Rhyn.
Manager Dave Cooper said the team’s success was down to a determined defensive display that saw his side maintain a lead taken as early as the fifth minute through Danny Gower.
“We did not really look like conceding. We were really poor the week before (at Ketley Bank United) but on Saturday we looked a lot more solid and compact,” said Cooper.
“Our back five played really well and we defended from the front. The whole team put a shift in.”
Gower slotted in from just inside the box after being played in by Dickie Everall. Town then successfully defended their lead for most of the game.
“The keeper (Ian Havard) handled really well. He did not drop a thing all day. “They were restricted to shooting from 30 yards,” said Cooper.
“He was actually my man-of- the-match although the team gave that to Jake Price. I could have given it to him as well as he broke up a lot of play.”
Next, Town have a trip to top of the league Oakengates and with the possibility of having more players available, Cooper is relishing the challenge.
“It will be a hard game but if we turn up and we are at it we are a good side,” said Cooper. “Hopefully Sean Evans and Rob Vass will be playing for us.
“Sean is top quality but is injured at the moment and Adrian Marsh has served his six-game ban. He has been to every training session and has looked good.”
Cooper added that sweeper Simon Bull could also be back depending on a knee injury.
