A DEPLETED Clee Hill went down 35-14 at mid-table rivals Edwardians in Midlands Three West (North).
But after fielding a scratch side for last weekend’s trip, captain Matt Bowen is expecting selection problems of a different type on Saturday with players queuing up to face local rivals Ludlow.
Scrum-half Charlie Evans scored a first half try at Edwardians with second row George Edwards going over after the break, Allan Shields slotting over both conversions.
“We had quite a few players away on holiday and it’s always tough going to a place like Edwardians,” Bowen said.
“This week we’re going to have too many players because they’re back from holiday and want to play against Ludlow. It’s a game we want to win.”
Cleobury Mortimer narrowly won their Midlands Three West (North) match at Eccleshall 18-15 and will be looking to build on that victory when they play host to Edwardians this weekend.
Dave Leach bagged a try and a penalty but Cleobury’s hero was Hayden Edwards who scored the other two tries including one with the final play of the game to secure a thrilling victory.
There were defeats for our sides in Midlands Four West (North) with Bishop's Castle losing 24-12 at basement club Market Drayton, Henry Wilson and Phil Oliver with the tries, while Church Stretton were edged out 17-13 at home to Bromyard. Bishop's Castle are at home to Rugeley on Saturday.
