A young Ludlow horse rider has amazed judges at an international championship, taking home a podium spot.
Eight year old Amber Lewis from Ludlow competed at the Home International Endurance Championships, held on August 10 and 11 in Kilkenny, Ireland.
Amber, who is the team’s youngest member, has been successfully competing in Pony Club endurance on her pony, Glenlichd Gala Day.
Amber, who is new to the sport, previously said she was "super excited to be able to take part in such an exciting event", and hopes her participation will encourage other young riders to give endurance a go.
The local eight year old delivered an “impressive performance”, finishing 3rd in the highly competitive 40km junior class.
Amber and her pony showcased “remarkable determination and skill on the tough terrain” throughout the competitive event.
Bella Fricker, the Chef d’Equipe of the England squad, praised the team’s resilience: "I am incredibly proud of our team’s tenacity in such difficult conditions.
“Leading this team to success has been an honour, and their performance under such tough circumstances was truly outstanding."
