LUDLOW Town Colts boss Mark Tonkinson praised his side’s bounce-back-ability after they rebounded from a cup hammering to register their first league win of the Herefordshire Premier season.
Just a week after losing 11-0 at home to Hereford Pegasus Reserves in the Herefordshire FA Charity Bowl, Colts beat the same opposition 2-1 in the league.
Ludlow went ahead through Sam Thomas and the visitors went down to 10 men for a bad foul on Josh Williams.
Thomas set up Aaron Hodge for Colts’ second before Pegasus pulled back a consolation goal after Thomas was sent off for a second yellow.
“The week before we were very poor but Saturday was completely different, everybody was up for it and put a shift in,” said Tonkinson.
“We came with the attitude we were not going to take another pasting and I couldn’t fault the lads.”
Defending champions Clee Hill United lost 3-2 at Welland despite goals from Charlie Edwards and Stevie Preece.
In the Herefordshire Junior Cup, Tenbury United beat Wellington Colts 4-3 with goals from Ryan Morris (2), Aaron Morris and Mike Morris, while Woofferton won 5-3 at Bartestree.
In the Salop Leisure League, Ludlow beat Wem 3-1 with goals from Jack Mear (2) and Aaron Dovey but Church Stretton lost 2-0 at Shawbury United under-23s.
